The soundMugithi, reimagined
Mugithi is the Kikuyu one-man-guitar-and-drums sound. Ayrosh blends it with neo soul, R&B, reggae, Afro-house and even EDM, and sings in Gikuyu, English and Kiswahili.

Where it startedMaking music since 2016
His first single, “Wendo”, landed in 2016. By 2018 he had nominations at the Sondeka Awards and the Café Ngoma Awards, and in 2019 came his debut EP Murasta, an Afro-house project two years in the making.

The movementHe built Folk Fusion
In 2018 he started Folk Fusion, a quarterly event celebrating African culture through folk music, fashion and food. Savara and Bensoul have headlined it, and it’s also the label behind his own releases.

He’s on Mutoriah’s “Mwanake Millennial” and teamed up with Mutoriah and 10Tonnes on “Jangwani”. Kayrop remixed his “Superstar”, and this year he features on “My Lover” with Mura, Hiribae and Ghedi.
