Sofiya Nzau is taking Mwaki around the world
The Kenyan singer behind one of the biggest Afro-house songs of the decade has announced a world tour across four continents, with Australia confirmed for February 2027.

Sofiya Nzau has announced a 2026/27 world tour across four continents. The first confirmed dates are in Australia, where her “Mwaki + Friends” shows land in Sydney on Friday 19 February 2027, Melbourne on Saturday 20 February and Perth on Sunday 21 February. More cities are expected to be announced as the tour goes on.
How she got hereFrom Thika to the world
Few Kenyan careers have moved this fast. Before music, Sofiya was working in Thika. She wrote “Mwaki”, a song in Gikuyu whose title means “fire”. In 2023 the Brazilian DJ Zerb turned it into an Afro-house track, TikTok did the rest, and the song became a global club record. Through all the noise, Sofiya has been clear that she chose how the song was released and that her agreement with Zerb works for her.
In July 2025 she became the first Kenyan artist to perform at Tomorrowland in Belgium, during her first European tour. A world tour is the natural next step for an artist whose biggest audience has never been only at home.
Why it mattersGikuyu, worldwide
“Mwaki” proved that a song sung entirely in a Kenyan language can fill dancefloors anywhere. Taking it on the road, under her own name, is how that moment turns into a career.
